My Bike - 1973 STD 350 & STD 500

Born in Mumbai, staying on the ground floor and my bed next to the window, I wake up every morning to a wonderful sight of a bullet parked right outside my window. The uncle who owned it use to take us kids on a round of his bike. I came across my Uncle's bike which is in Mangalore, a 1968 Royal Enfield and as he told me about how the bike was passed on to him. Only thing he used to allow me to do was clean the bike.
The first time he gave me the keys of the bike having full faith that I won't be able to start it and so it was. I was soaked in sweat but the bike didn't budge. To my luck, my uncle left his other bike with me when he left abroad . I Purchased my first bike when I was in Banglore the A350 in 99.
Then I moved on to Mumbai in and heard about the group Inddie Thumpers. I went through the site, contacted Kaka and ever since riding with the thumpers (my first set of friends after coming back to Mumbai). Here I own 1973 bullet and a std 500.
I have done a bit of riding myself have done ladakh twice, Nagpur, Madhya pradesh, Dessert storm, have toured the south etc...
About the club we are strange set of people:
- who do save so we can ride.
- We can talk about and stare at bikes for hours.
- Only time spend with our family is when we know we have to butter them up so we can be off on a ride.
- We see our mechanic more than our GF.
- We believe in the saying more the merrier when it comes to bikes and spare parts.
The list can just go on so if you think you suffer from similar symptoms ur on the right site.
For me a riding is like reading a book. Not bothered how many pages I have read or how many pages left to go. It's the feeling that holds u on, "Ecstasy".
